Native Language Tools & Apple Intelligence

System dictionary, thesaurus, Apple Translation, and native Apple Intelligence Writing Tools.

Spelling, dictionary, translation, and Apple Intelligence Writing Tools are the Mac's own language stack. Accepted edits land on the Moment path as writer changes.

Writing Tools… Translate selection
The Language sheet. Dictionary and thesaurus are the Mac's. Writing Tools is a writer edit.

Spelling, Grammar & Dictionary

Live spelling, grammar, automatic correction, word completion, smart quotes, and system text replacements work in the ordinary editor, continuous flow, and Focus Mode.

Language opens installed Dictionary and Thesaurus sources, spelling alternatives, completions, learned words, and Apple Translation for the selection or the word at the caret. Roono bundles no dictionary and sends no prose to a Roono server.

Apple Intelligence Writing Tools

When Writing Tools are available on the Mac, manuscript editors use the system Writing Tools experience. Language also exposes Writing Tools. Vault fields and non-manuscript fields opt out.

Writing Tools replace text only after you accept the system result. That acceptance is a writer edit, not an agent proposal.

Edits on the Moment Path

Dictionary replacements, translations, and accepted Writing Tools results save like any other keystroke: they become Moments and can be branched or recovered. They never arrive on an agent/ branch.
