Privacy Policy
SixTwelve Studio builds purpose-crafted software for macOS, Linux, iOS, iPadOS, and Playdate. Our software is designed from the ground up to be local-first. We do not sell your personal data, we do not host third-party advertising, and we do not bundle analytics or behavioral tracking SDKs.
Studio Privacy Commitments
We adhere to four core commitments across every piece of software we build:
- Zero Data Brokerage: We never sell, rent, monetize, or disclose your personal information, photos, notes, or usage patterns to data brokers or third parties.
- No Ad Networks: None of our applications include advertising SDKs, sponsored trackers, or cross-app identifier beacons.
- Local-First Architecture: Your files, photos, code, and documents live on your physical device or inside your private Apple iCloud containers. We do not operate proprietary content servers that store your work.
- Data Minimization: We request only the hardware permissions strictly required for the tool to operate (e.g. camera sensor for viewfinders).
Data Architecture & Sync Models
On-Device Storage: By default, data created in our apps (photo rolls, writing vaults, audio recordings, pipeline recipes, wireframes) is written directly to your device storage in open standard formats (JPEG, HEIC, PNG, Markdown, plain text, Core Image sidecars).
Apple iCloud & CloudKit Sync: Where multi-device synchronization is supported (such as in Talus Notes, jots, or Dispatch), records sync using your personal Apple iCloud account and private CloudKit database. SixTwelve Studio cannot inspect, access, or decrypt your iCloud data.
No Studio Telemetry: We do not log which buttons you click, how long you use an app, or what files you open. Crash reports are handled strictly through Apple's opt-in system diagnostics if you have enabled them in iOS or macOS settings.
Product-Specific Data Handling
Camera Instruments (basic, half, sixtyfive, sixtyfive motion, Spool, The Camera Collection)
No user account is required. Exposures, undeveloped frames, contact sheets, and exposure parameters remain in local application sandboxes until you choose to export them to the system Photos library.
Dispatch Postcard
Video clips and assembled cards stay on-device. If you choose to publish a postcard to your public Wall or Explore feed, that post is stored in CloudKit public records associated with your chosen handle. You can delete public posts or your entire profile at any time from in-app settings.
Lumen Darkroom, ArtBench & CaptureMood
Native macOS, Linux, and iPadOS photo editors. Original images are read from your local folders and never altered. Layer documents, adjustment sidecars, and subject masks stay on your device without network activity.
roono
Native Mac writing desk. Document vaults, evidence pins, moments, and drafts stay on your local disk. In-app BYO AI integrations communicate only with the third-party endpoint you configure (e.g. local Ollama or personal API keys); SixTwelve Studio never intercepts your prompts or documents.
Talus Notes & jots
Everyday writing and shared list tools. Operates offline locally with optional sync via your private Apple CloudKit container. We run no intermediary sync servers.
Verso Markdown, Marlin, Engage & Specimen
Native desktop text, terminal, vector inspection, and stream engineering tools (macOS and Linux). These tools operate with zero telemetry and require no accounts. Files open directly from your disk and terminal or workbench sessions run strictly on your machine without external transmission.
Specimen runs purely offline without network dependencies. Vector geometry and SVG payloads are sanitized and inspected in local memory, rejecting remote entities, external stylesheets, and web pings. Marlin runs under the App Sandbox and reaches only the files and folders you choose. Very large files are read through a sparse line index rather than loaded whole; that index, along with your session, saved recipes, snippets, custom grammars and a local diagnostic log, is written inside Marlin's own container and never leaves the machine. Marlin's assistant uses Apple Foundation Models on device, so the text it reasons about is not transmitted anywhere.
Mocksyy
Native wireframe and mockup studio. Documents save as local .vellum packages or in your personal iCloud Drive container with zero tracking.
pip Tutor, axis, embertail, fold & Kizuna
Educational tutoring and tactile games that run offline. Game saves, scores, and tutoring profiles remain strictly on device hardware.
Hardware & System Permissions
When requested, hardware permissions are used strictly for immediate application functions:
- Camera: Renders live viewfinder feeds and captures photo/video frames in camera instruments. Never accessed in the background.
- Microphone: Captures synchronized audio in video recording tools (Dispatch, SixtyFive Motion). Never recorded in the background.
- Photos (Add Only): Enables saving exported images, contact sheets, and video reels directly into your Photos library without reading your existing library.
- Location (Optional): Used exclusively if you choose to record GPS coordinates in photo EXIF metadata. Location data never leaves the local image file.
- Motion & Accelerometer: Measures physical device tilt for physics puzzles (Fold).
Payments & Financial Security
App Store Purchases: Processed and managed entirely by Apple Inc. under Apple's privacy policy and security standards. SixTwelve Studio never sees or stores your payment card numbers, billing addresses, or bank details.
Direct Sales (Stripe): Payments for direct software licenses (such as roono, Verso, and CaptureMood) are handled by Stripe. We receive only transaction confirmation metadata (your email address and license token) to issue and fulfill your software license.
Data Retention & User Erasure Rights
You maintain full sovereignty over your data across all SixTwelve Studio tools:
- Camera & Photo Apps: Use in-app erase options (e.g. Locker → About → Erase all data) or delete the application to remove local sandbox contents.
- Dispatch: Delete individual cards from My Cards or unpublish posts from your Wall. Use Settings → Delete Account to permanently remove public CloudKit profiles.
- Documents & Vaults (roono, Verso, Lumen, Mocksyy, Engage, Specimen): Delete project folders, config files, sidecars, or binaries directly in your file manager (macOS Finder or Linux file manager).
- Marlin: Use Settings → Privacy → Erase all Marlin data to remove the session and its recovery drafts, saved recipes, snippets, custom grammars, the diagnostic log, the line index cache and every stored preference. Your own documents are not touched by that control; delete those in your file manager (macOS Finder or Linux file manager).
- CloudKit Data (Talus, jots): Delete items in-app to propagate deletions across your synced devices, or disable iCloud for the app in iOS/macOS Settings.
Children's Privacy Protections
Pip Tutor: Pip is designed specifically for early learners. It contains no network entitlements and cannot transmit data across the internet. A caregiver gate protects settings, all speech recognition and intelligence models run on-device, and caregiver controls provide instant one-tap data erasure.
Across all our software, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.
