Tidemark accessibility

Reviewed 2026-10-17

Tidemark puts notes and a calendar on one moving line and keeps track of the promises you write. Writing, reading the line, the calendar, threads and the evening close work with VoiceOver, Voice Control and the largest text sizes on iPhone and iPad, with VoiceOver and Voice Control on the Mac, and with VoiceOver on Apple Watch, and every thread says in words whether you owe it or are owed it.

Common tasks we test

A feature is marked supported only when all of these work with it on that device.

  • First launch: exploring the sample library or starting empty
  • Writing a note from the capture bar and opening it in the editor
  • Reading the line: events, notes and threads above and below now
  • Going back with Low Tide
  • Moving through the calendar by week and by month
  • Opening a thread, and marking it Kept, Move or Release
  • Closing the tide in the evening
  • Filing an Inbox note to a project
  • Restoring a note from Recently Deleted
  • Changing appearance, motion, text and sync in Settings

How it works

VoiceOver and Voice Control

Every button carries the name shown on screen, such as New note, All notes and Close the tide. Each row on the line is read as one item with its time, title and whether it is a promise you made or one owed to you. Close the tide has Kept, Move and Release as actions on each card, so nothing depends on a swipe. Low Tide and the calendar are adjustable: swipe up or down on the line to step through time, and on the month title to change month.

Larger Text

Interface text, icons and the note editor follow the system text size up to the largest accessibility sizes. Rows wrap instead of cutting words, and on Apple Watch the time moves above each title. The editor's own text size setting multiplies the system size.

Colour, contrast and dark

Every text colour in Chalk, Ink and True Black is tested to reach at least 4.5:1 on each surface it sits on. With Increase Contrast on, secondary text and hairlines darken further. A promise in a note is underlined as well as tinted, and threads are labelled Promised or Owed to you in words.

Motion

Motion follows the system Reduce Motion setting, or can be set to Reduced or Full in Settings › Appearance. When reduced, cards, sheets and the line change in place without sliding, springing or flying off screen, on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.
