Talus Notes accessibility

Reviewed 2026-10-15

Talus is a river of notes where today stays on the surface and older days settle into bands. Capturing, keeping, finding, and settling notes work with VoiceOver, Voice Control, and the largest text sizes on iPhone and iPad, with VoiceOver and Voice Control on the Mac, and with VoiceOver on Apple Watch.

Common tasks we test

A feature is marked supported only when all of these work with it on that device.

  • First launch and the welcome screen
  • Dropping a note from the capture bar
  • Opening, editing, and closing a note
  • Keeping a note and letting it go
  • Deleting a note and restoring it from Recently Deleted
  • Reading the river: today, kept notes, and older bands
  • Searching with Dig and opening a result
  • Settling the day's notes in the evening digest
  • Browsing the Archive
  • Changing the light, iCloud sync, the lock, and export in Settings
  • Sharing text into Talus, and the widgets and complications

How it works

VoiceOver and Voice Control

Every control is named as it appears on screen, such as Drop a thought and Dig, so Voice Control users can say what they see. Keep, Delete, and Restore are actions on each note, so nothing depends on a swipe or a long press, and digest buttons are named after their note.

Larger Text

All text and meaningful icons follow the system text size up to the largest accessibility sizes. Rows and controls stack, the river drops to one column, settings rows wrap, sheets open full height, and search results show the words around each match instead of cutting them short.

Contrast and lights

Each of the four lights is tested by day and by night so that every text color, including faint dates and the amber accent, reaches at least 4.5:1 on every surface it sits on.

Motion

With Reduce Motion on, slides, springs, and scales become fades on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
